Treacherous Orchestra
Music / Packaging

The project_
An O assembled from the land and the sea.
The brief_
CD packaging for Origins, an album by Treacherous Orchestra. I had a free hand. Several concepts were worked through in notebooks and discussed before this one was chosen.
The observation_
The music has Highland roots, traditional instruments and a very modern energy. Scottish folk, but not tartan-twee. The packaging needed to come from that landscape and carry something of its folklore.
The application_
The central symbol is an O for Origins, made from found natural materials: twigs, feathers, antlers, leaves, seaweed and a gannet’s head. Materials from the land and the sea. The figure adds a reference to an older, more mysterious Scotland.
