The project_
His name was already in the description of what he does.
The brief_
An identity and supporting collateral for Glasgow photographer Colin Gray. I worked through several proposals before noticing something that had been there all along.
The observation_
The letters of Gray sit, in sequence, inside photography: photoGRAphY. His surname is part of the word that describes his profession. Simple, once you see it. The grey lettering against black adds a second reference to the name.
The application_
I developed that observation into the identity and supporting printed material, including teaser postcards mailed to clients and agencies. The typography carries the idea. It does not need anything added to explain his name.
